Well not exactly healthy, since I've picked up on more drinking and smoking than I ever have. I've had my share of smoking weed/blunts, getting smashed at Fraternity parties (because my roommates have the hookups), clubbing, strip clubbing, and pretty much the rest of the college shit you see in the movies (or not). I have a decked out room, tight roommates, chill classes, great food everyday, amazing gym and other facilital access, beautiful campus, hot girls EVERYwhere. Oh did I mention the 1.5mb/s download speed I get on AVERAGE?! What can I say, life is good at this point. :)

These past couple of weeks marked the zenith of my college stress experience, with a whomping three midterms. I think I did fairly well on them. But if my study habits stay continue the way they are, opportunity for grad school won't be looking too good. It's been a very flexible month living away from my parents: no nagging, leaving and coming back whenever I please, eating whatever I want, skipping classes without the fear of getting lectured, etc. I admit, however, that I've been too taken in by this freedom, hence rendering me a lazy slobbish bum with no discipline. An example of this would be my compulsive figurine buying spree over the past three weeks, since I have my own credit card now. I'll post up pictures of my collection thus far, so you can lay your jealous eyes on them. Yes I do buy Anime figurines now. I've become something along the lines of a 'closet otaku.' But the Anime freaks I've been hanging around with at the UCLA Animation Club? These guys have reached a new level of nerdy fanboy, /b/tard, otakuism. I'll leave it at that.

Also picked up some new activities. For one, I'm into rock climbing now. It's a strenuous workout, but the feeling you get after conquering a trail justifies all the hard work. I'm also apart of HKSS now. Thought I'd do some exploring in my Cantonese heritage. Who am I kidding, my only intention for joining ethnic clubs was to meet cute Asian girls lol. I've started interning for HKSS; gonna see where it takes me in terms of experience and connections. The executive committee seem pretty competent from what I saw at the meeting last night, so I think I'll learn a thing or two.

That's pretty much what I have going on right now. I don't think my workload will be too tough until second or third quarter. My classes stand as being pretty boring. Chem is seriously gay, no joke. Communications is interesting at times, but repetitive. English is worst than a grindfest. Math.. EZPZLEMONSQZ lol.

Oh, I'm also hitting up PMX (Pacific Media Expo) on Saturday of Vet holiday weekend, so call me if you're going. Still don't have any plans for Thanksgiving or Christmas so hit me up! Also, let me know if anyone's interested in the HKSS Ski Trip or Joint U Clubbing event during Winter Quarter. I'll end with some pix of my figures and leet chars on SOTNW. By the way, if anyone plays Melty Blood Act Cadenza, I'm up to practice through Netplay on Hamachi.

-ben

PS: Watch this video if you ever wanna guzzle on a nose bleed of cuteness. This video is so much TIMOTEIII~<3

PICTURE TIMEZ

Ok starting with Suzumiya type='text'>Moar Seifuuku~

Well, I'm moving into college pretty soon and I'll probably need some ways to hide my otakuism lulz. As brought to you by Riuva.com blog, here it is: 10 ways to be an Undercover Ninja Otaku in School!

"We all know anime is a shameful hobby and as respectable college students, we must strive to hide all signs of our inner otakuness. You surely don’t want the hot chick from Life Sciences or the cute girl from Statistics and Applied Probablity to think you are a NEET with a 2D complex right? But how do we hide this unmistakably distinct stench of nerdiness? Is it even possible? Riuva teaches you how to be a Ninja otaku!

1. Make friends with people who don’t know anime. As many as possible.
Don’t shun others just because they like only Naruto or worse, don’t know who Range Murata is. It’s imperative that you gain lots of friends who do not know anime at all actually, as this is exactly like covering yourself with leaves and twigs for jungle camouflage. If your friends are all the anime-clueless sort, nobody will guess that you like the sissy Japanese cartoons. Your secret will be safe.

2. When your friends (assuming you have them since you will have followed step 1) are deciding where to eat, do not demand the group go to somewhere a) Japanese or b) maid or c) dirt cheap so you have more money for merchandise.
Normal people don’t really have much things to spend their cash on, so they foolishly fritter it away on disposable items such as food. But since we need to pretend to be normal, we must join them in throwing cash down the alimentary canal. Bear with it!! If you eat well, you will be less likely to be spotted as an otaku.

3. Set your cellphone ringtone to something instrumental.
You do not want to kill off your own uniqueness, so we’ll still keep the anime-ish ringtone. But instead of Motteku Sailorfuku, how about some classy instrumental music instead? I’m currently using Guns and Roses, the OP of Baccano, which is kinda jazzy. I was using the boss battle theme of FFVI for a couple of months. My message tone is the victory tone of FF tactics, which is obscure enough and still sound great. Generally, soundtracks and BGMs work well.

4. Set your laptop wallpaper to a logo bereft of anime characters.
I recommend the Riuva series of wallpapers, they may have anime-styled characters, but done tastefully in the RangeMurata style. A moe-mongering wallpaper of perhaps Konata upskirts is a sure sign of an otaku, so change it to something more discrete.

5. Deny knowing anime unless the questioner first identifies his cred.
You have to say the standard phrase of denial, "What is anime? Is it HENTAI? YOU WATCH JAP PORN haha" or "Sorry, not interested in Pokemon." if the person who asks is a stranger or someone who does not appear to know anime. Don’t give this response if you feel the other party could be an undercover ninja otaku as well. Other ninja otakus will secretly and subtly identify their faction, through hints. For example, if I were speaking to LianYL for the first time and he wishes to confirm if I also liked Gintama, he would hum the tune of GIN IRO NO SORA, the bestest OP in the world. I would then harmonise in the same octave, thus erasing all doubt of misidentification.

6. Memorise some smokescreen hobbies to help in self-intros.
Knowing the first year of college involves lots of self-introductions where people judge you based on your hobbies, be prepared with a list of fake hobbies to share when it’s your turn to speak up. You must have extensive knowledge in these fake hobbies lest people get suspicious. For me, I normally pick "football" as my hobby and sometimes "web publishing". But if you really feel the need to launch a beacon of identification such that other ninja otaku can spot you, say something like "My favourite bands are redballoon, Baseball Bear, Uverworld, Snowkel and Orange Range". These sound really mainstream and safe yet any ninja otaku worth his salt would recognise these having the common pattern of all bands who have anime OPs/EDs.

7. Dress normally.
Normal is not what you think is normal, but what OTHERS think is normal. Haruhi shirts, SOS-dan armbands, maid costumes are not normal, despite what we think.

8. Do not join the anime club.
Obviously, trying to be a ninja otaku in an anime club is like going to Church with two flaming torches and singing "Red Fraction". I did join the anime club but I tell my friends it’s the "Animation Society" where we analyze animations.

9. Stay clear of grunt otakus.
The grunt otaku is someone who has a very rudimentary knowledge in anime, possibly one from the BT boom. He watches the usual mainstream popular series and is dying to discuss it. True ninja otaku normally get sucked into a conversation with these guys and we’ll obviously slay them with our razor sharp knowledge. But the trouble is, the otaku need to show off our otaku knowledge and level up other otakus make the non-otakus realise that we are really otakus. This has happened to me lots of times. I just cannot resist the urge to engage in conversation about anime.

10. Get a girlfriend.
If you can’t find one, buy some artificial vaginas from Jlist.com. Link below."

That is some great advice coming at you, follow it well fellow otakus. But I do have a life outside games, anime, etc. As proof, I went to Six Flags last Sunday with a lot of church goers. It was a great time all around, line free on Sunday is something of a miracle. We did come across the occasional 15 minute wait for X. Being the group of carefree asians, we played Chinese clapping games and put on a show for the pissed off sweaty looking Mexican families in line. That's always fun. I finally got to ride Deja Vu, and it is by far the best ride in the whole park. After the rides, we went to chill at the arcade, where I showed off my superb DDR skillz, and the rigged mini games area. My friend won me a UCLA mini basketball o(^.^)o That goes on the shelf of things I admire for a few days and forget about forever. But, I had to watch the rest of the newbs pay three dollars to play these rigged shits and phail miserably. Not to mention how cheap the prizes looked. Oh, and I did meet a girl who shared the same passion for Jrock as I! It started with the: "Oh hey nice shirt, you went to Jrock Revolution too?" And it goes from there.

Well, that pretty much concludes the one day I step outside my house from playing Granado Espada. I'm back to afk leveling while watching Kaleido Star on my roxor LCD. Check Kaleido Star out if you haven't, I gives it 9.8/10 thus far (please let the ending blow my socks off). And as promised from last week, I shall indeed post new screenies of my Adelina and Bernelli posing, later. I'm also filing a lawsuit against IAHgames for implementing a upgrade system that breaks all of your Sabres without question. It took 5 Yellow Tails to make one +6, there goes my time and effort. BUT, I guess the glowiness was worth it in the end. Farewell and don't forget to loop Seifuuku before you sleep!

PS: I forfeit the proposal I made last time about getting that piano teachers number. FUCKING SEAKING!!!1

EDIT: Screenshot of my Adelina holding +6 Sabre and +4 Wind Slicer, Bernelli holding +4 Shotgun, and Scout wearing a pimp hat

Reporting for duty! Everyone sweating and looking pissed while we were all taking turns trying to beat Wario Warez ya!

SO, my mom decided to sign me up for piano lessons at Waltrip's Music Center down by Pavilions because she thought I was on drugs on something staying home everyday. My first lesson was yesterday, and it was the most embarrassing shit of my life. Grown ass man, sitting there taping the quarter notes to Jingle Bells, nice. There were 13 year olds down the hall masterfully playing Mozart. I know I've always wanted to learn, but not like this. I have notes down, guess I'll just practice to a certain level in college and learn from there in ADULT institutions. However, I am contemplating a second lesson. You'd expect one of those old ass ladies or something to be piano teachers, right? Wrong. My teacher was a cute young looking Taiwanese girl (yes) probably in her early twenties, who had a great personality and a gorgeous smile. Who am I kidding though, beautiful and already making a living (a pretty good one at that, $25 for half an hour!), and I'm still walking with training wheels. Or maybe my pussyshit self is talking for me again; if I get her number by next Thursday everyone reading this owes me drinks lol.

And there you have it, another chapter in my vivacious life. My new LCD screen came within one day of ordering, Newegg you rule. It runs a stunning 1280x1024 display for a reasonable price, but my eyes are still adjusting because I've been staring at my laptop too much. I'm still hardcore grinding in Granado Espada because I just got a sniper UPC and I'm going for a dual wielder next. No more getting owned in instances baby! I'm also trying to pass the song Bravin' Bad Crew by Riryka heavy mode in Stepmania. It's like full chaos and stream lol. I have Note skin, C400 scroll speed, 10 battery lives, AND trick assist... still can't beat it. If anyone wants to give it a try, it can be found in Otaku Anime Mix #3 - look for the anime Venus Versus Virus and its the song in red >.> I'll leave you with a screenie of my badass fighter holding a glowing +6 sword with all buffs on. Next time you'll get to see Bernelli + Adelina striking poses :)

PS: I think Lipton puts nicotine in their drinks, I can't put the shit down.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sodenoshita.blogspot.com/2007/09/reporting-for-duty-sir.html' title='Reporting for duty! Too long has my mind been lost in the triviality of a virtual MMORPG world. I would dream about combinations of armors and spells that produce the best results in PVP. Disgusting huh? But in case anyone was wondering, I'm playing Granado Espada, 2Moons, Dance! Online, Lineage 2, and RFOnline. If you want to play, I'll still be wasting my life until I move in the dorms on the 21st of Sept. I'm ashamed to say most of my time spent outside has been to feed myself over the past two weeks. If it wasn't to feed myself, it was to play Smash at clements, airsoft in Kenny's back yard, or checking out girls at Infinity Arcade lol; all the while getting our asses handed to us in Third Strike. Getting plastered playing drinking games was a notable highlight last week, and trust me, it did not turn out in favor of light. It sucks playing beer pong when you're seeing two of everything lol. Then theres being driven home drunk off your ass after having thrown up 2-3 times by your friends mom. Priceless. Everyone was barfing and feeling sick except for Derrick (half black) who probably drank just as much if not more than the rest of us; what a beast. The expected hangover came knocking the next morning, but I conquered that mofo like a warrior. Aspirin, fruits, and a lot of damn water. After that it was back to my regular schedule, doing nothing and playing games. It's sad how my motivation to go to the gym everyday and be productive went downhill a few days after my 3 days of church retreat. The food was orgasmic and the people were hella nice. I'll say it straight though: I didn't learn much nor did I turn a new leaf. I listened to the preachings, but it was hard to absorb and had little effect on my thoughts. Maybe it was lack of faith and understanding, but it was probably lack of effort on my part. I'm always telling myself to put off these things until I'm older so I can enjoy the physical aspects of this life without restrictions. I'm starting to see a little bit why that's the wrong mindset because, well, I'm not happy doing the things I want.

Well anyways, I planned a church gathering with some people a few weeks back, so I'll be looking forward to that. Still taking care of some loan issues and other pre-quarter ordeals because I'm a retard who doesn't follow up on shit. I have a feeling college life is gonna set up me straight. Let's go bruins baby.
